Welcome, everybody, to the launch of a new club here at the home of the Lakeside Hammers !
When I used to go down the Rayleigh Weir back in the early 70's I would have loved to have done something to feel close to the club.
I used to enter the competitions in the local paper and I even got to travel on the Rockets carnival float one year.
So, inspired by that and by the artistic inspiration from a certain Sonny Douglas (aged 9!), we're putting out a call to all you youngsters to join the brand new Junior Hammers.
This is a club just for you, no boring adults allowed. Even better - it's FREE to join.
Each week we will run a profile on one of our juniors. We will be showing some of your fantastic art skills as you draw us your favourite rider or speedway scene, and we will soon be launching exclusive clothing just for you guys.
There will also be competitions to win great prizes including the chance to become TEAM MASCOT for the night, where you get to travel on the parade and victory lap with the team. You will also have your photo taken with your favourite rider.
The only rule is you have to be 12 or under, and as you are all computer whizz kids, you can fill in your application online right now !
You youngsters are the future of this speedway club and we take your involvement and enjoyment very seriously - that's why we recently formed a working partnership with the Chafford Hundred Campus, our local school.
So, welcome, my young mates, to The Junior Hammers - and in the the meantime, fill in your application and then get drawing !
