Wolverhampton Wolves 41 - Lakeside Hammers 49

Superb away victory for Hammers

Elite League : Monday 21st April 2008

The Hammers recovered a six point deficit to pull off this superb away victory at Wolverhampton, helping themselves to three away Elite League points.

Trailing after a slow start on a super slick surface, the Hammers regained composure and importantly momentum to force a share of heats before a 5-1 in race ten.

Wolves suffered their own misfortune in that heat when Fredrik Lindgren packed up whilst leading - and Hammers were in mean mood thereafter to turn the screw and press ahead.

A 4-2 from Andreas Jonsson and flying reserve Ricky Kling moved them four points ahead in heat eleven - and AJ teamed up with Jonas Davidsson to score an emphatic 5-1 in heat thirteen.

The Hammers made the result a mathematical certainty in the penultimate race when the resurgent Joonas Kylmakorpi jetted to his second victory of the night, joining Kling for a 5-1.

Wolves had their own rider of the night in fifteen point man Niels-Kristian Iversen and gained some consolation when the Dane won the final race with Lindgren. For Hammers, though, victory was sweet in front of the Sky Sports cameras and the result netted them their first away win in front of the live lens - and their first away victory of the 2008 Elite League campaign.
