HAMMERS RECORD: ‘Robbo' shattered his pelvis and suffered serious back injuries, whilst also fracturing his sternum and receiving extensive internal bleeding in a frightening crash at Mildenhall in a Knockout Cup tie for Rye House in April 2007. He was to miss not only the remainder of the 2007 season but also the 2008 campaign, although he did appear late season in 2008 in some open events.
The experienced Stuart joined Lakeside on a full-time basis in 2009, when he jumped at the opportunity of getting back into British Speedway's top-flight. Riding at reserve for the Hammers during 2009 he soon became very popular with the Club’s fans. In 30 League matches he scored 151 points from 145 rides to average 4.17 excluding bonus points. With 35 bonus points in these League matches he was the top Hammers bonus point scorer in 2009. In 2010 he will start the season up in the top five but is still looking to increase his average from his comeback 2009 average.
